My work explores the realm of reality and fantasy. I create imagery
inspired by everyday experiences and scenes and visualize them into drawings
and sculptures. In my work, I deal with recollections of life, dream, hidden
desires and irrational human behaviours. My work also addresses the issues
of the border between the private and public, handlings of human emotions
and questions of correctness that are deeply rooted in Japanese society.
Often these themes are combined into drawings that feature dramatic scenes
with surreal occurrences and unexplainable orders of things. The grey
tone of the drawings and sculptures establishes the dream-like quality.
It also suggests notions of nostalgia and detachment from the past.
